“Anything He Wants: Castaway #2″ is LIVE!

Can I just say that self-publishing is awesome? :) It’s awesome to be able to get a story out a week earlier than planned, kind of a nice bonus for folks who’ve been keeping track and hoping for an early release. ;)

The rough draft is only the beginning

Writing is not as easy as people like to think. We all say that we’d like to write a book, or that we could write a better book than so-and-so, but actually finishing a story? Is half the battle.

Of course, sometimes it helps to have smaller goals along the way. Serialized fiction is perfect for this, giving you those convenient stops between sections that give you the sense of accomplishment without having to wait the full 100k words. ;)

Oh do pardon me, I’m rambling a bit because it’s midnight and I’m quite tired. I’m happy to report, however, that the rough draft of AHW7 (or AHW:C2) is finished. Mind you, there’s still a lot to do; editing is a HUGE step along the path and what I’ll be doing for the next couple weeks. The novel, all told, is at about 42k words with only two parts done, so it’s going to be much longer than the original book. Not necessarily a bad thing, or so I hope.

*yaaaaawn* Bed awaits. Tomorrow (or, okay, later today) will be devoted to edits. But for now I need to head to bed before I start drooling over my keyboard. (oh yeah, sexy writer visuals there *eyeroll*) ;) :D

Oh, and on an awesome note (that is actually REALLY awesome news, but I can’t quite muster up the proper enthusiasm while this tired): “Anything He Wants: Castaway” (AHW6) made it onto this week’s USA Today Bestseller list at #126. I’m seriously excited by this; it’s a huge shock and something I didn’t think we’d accomplish again. THANK YOU, thank you thank you, this is all you and…thank you SO so very much. ***HUGS***

Three more days!

Only three more days until the release of “Anything He Wants 6: Castaway”, which continues the story of the novel and serials! Yesterday I took the first steps, uploading the book to iTunes. Unfortunately, Apple takes the longest to approve a book for distribution, so it might not be available on Monday like the rest. As soon as there’s a link however, that will be posted to you all.

Hugh Howey posted an excellent writing guide to today’s publishing world. He says everything I’ve noticed myself, so if you’re an aspiring author looking to publish in today’s market, this is an excellent introduction to today’s world of publishing. ;)

I got the MOST AWESOME VIDEO EVER today in my inbox: my newest niece/nephew’s sonogram!!! :D :D :D My sister didn’t want to know the sex but the doctor was 99% sure she knew, so now all is family are making guesses and trying to decide what colors and toys to get. I’m so excited; my sister is due in July right during RWA Nationals (which I will be attending), so if you are me and I’m a little distracted, that’ll be why. ;)

Right now the Dude and I are heading down to San Diego to pick up a refrigerator that my sister is giving us. I’ve always loved that coastal city, but holy crap driving through Los Angeles is almost not worth it!! While I’d love to live in SD, I don’t think I’d be heading north out of town too often… ;)

A big Thank You to my readers!!

The last couple days have been hectic at Casa de Fawkes for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is gearing up for the release of AHW4. Editing, formatting and tweaking bits until they shine in the sun. I enjoy the writing process, letting my creative side run free, but there’s pleasure to be had in editing too, adding that extra bit of polish to a story.

That said, I have a few small-to-medium sized announcements, some of which might explain the recent radio silence:

– I’ve signed with a literary agent, Steven Axelrod of the Axelrod Agency. It’s hard to tell you how HAPPY JOYFUL ECSTATIC this makes me as he was a dream agent before I decided to self-publish. Omg I’m still over the freaking moon just thinking about it!! I normally wouldn’t have gone this route but I’ve been approached by a few editors of big name houses, and I knew immediately I was WAY out of my league. Still, it boggles my mind – ill have to do a post someday of my journey but for now I’m content to see it through.

– The RWA conference is happening this week only three hours away, and I’ve been scrambling to figure out how I might attend. Nothing is set in stone yet but I’ve been wanting to attend for years, and right now seems like the perfect time.

– As I said before, I have the best fans in the world. You guys have stood beside me, tweet and promoted and recommended these stories to friends and family… *sniff* I’m so humbled and thankful for your help!! So as a gift I’ve decided, for this week only, to make “Anything He Wants 4: Collateral Damage” $.99 at all outlets. Believe me, if it was possible to make it free across the board I’d do it, but most distribution outlets frown on that (I guess it doesn’t make them any money. Imagine that!) so I’m making it as cheap as I can make it. The sale is only for a limited time as a thank-you to everyone who’s supported me, but is obviously open to the public. Tell your friends, family, pen pals, everyone you can to get it quick as the sale goes through Sunday.

The day job awaits but, gah, you guys are so incredible. Thank you, THANK YOU for the support and praises and comments, it means the freaking world to me!!! :D

Expansion, and new release announcements!

Well, that took longer than originally planned, but WOOHOO we’re live!! AHW 1-3 is now available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and AllRomance, with iTunes hopefully being added to the mix in the near-ish future. Barnes and Noble is for all those who use the Nook to read their stories, Kobo is much more international (I remember seeing the reader in Borders Bookstores before they shut their doors forever) and AllRomance allows their customers to download all sorts of formats including PDF to read on a computer and ePub which can be transferred to several different types of ereaders.

I’d also like to announce that the release date for “Anything He Wants 4″ is now set for July 26, which is next Thursday. I had a heck of a time last month getting the book live on the right date – Amazon sometimes takes it sweet old time letting new books through, and other sites can be similarly annoying – so I’ll be a bit more proactive with getting the book out early. If you see the book earlier than Thursday by all means, buy and enjoy!!

Look for a cover reveal this weekend. The lady who does my covers has chosen one heck of a picture for part four and I think it’s perfect! Can’t wait to show it to you guys!!
:D
